"Works great until I actually need to print"
HP Instant Ink sounded really convenient at first, and that’s what pulled me in. But then I’d get low ink warnings, or not get them, or a shipment would show up later than I expected, and suddenly I’m standing there wondering if I can print something I need right then. Also, the whole point was supposed to be not thinking about ink, but somehow I was thinking about it more.
Customer support didn’t really smooth things out either. It felt slow, and the answers weren’t always clear, and by that point I was already annoyed. I don’t mind a subscription if it actually takes something off my plate, but this felt like I had to keep checking on it. Maybe it works fine for some people, but for me it just wasn’t dependable when it mattered.

"It said it was compatible, but once..."
It said it was compatible, but once I tried using it, my printer wouldn’t work at all. Frustrating to find out it wasn’t actually "supported" after the fact
"Using the app feels more stressful than it should"
The ink service itself is fine, but the app and website have been frustrating for me. I feel kind of pressured whenever I need to check something quickly, because pages load slowly, logging in sometimes takes multiple tries, and finding billing or plan info takes way more digging than it should. The app has also frozen on me while I was just trying to check my printer status. It usually works eventually, but the whole experience feels clunky and stressful instead of simple

"Not flexible enough for the way I print"
I thought HP Instant Ink sounded convenient at first, and the idea makes sense. But after using it for a bit, the plans started to feel a little too fixed for how I actually print.
Some months I barely print anything at all, and then out of nowhere I’ll have a month where I need a bunch of pages. You can change plans, sure, but I still felt like I was constantly trying to predict what I’d need, and if I guessed wrong then… yeah.
I can see it working better for someone who prints about the same amount every month. For me, with my random printing habits, it just ended up feeling more annoying than helpful, like I was boxed into a system that didn’t really fit

"Kind of inconvenient in the end"
I don’t print a ton, but of course the one week I actually needed to print a few things, my printer ran out of ink. I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal since HP said more was already on the way, so I waited and kept checking for it. After a while, though, I ended up just buying cartridges somewhere else because I couldn’t keep putting it off. The ink did show up eventually, but it took way too long to be useful

"I signed up thinking this would..."
I signed up thinking this would save me some money, but it mostly just feels like another monthly bill. Some months I barely print anything and I’m still paying for it, which gets frustrating.
The page limits and extra charges are annoying too. Ink does show up, but for the little printing I do, I think buying cartridges only when I needed them was cheaper. I also expected someone to check in or follow up when it clearly wasn’t a great fit, but nope, nothing.

"Print quality has really gone downhill"
Lately my prints have been coming out all faded and streaky, even after I’ve run the cleaning cycle a few times. I don’t know what changed, but... it’s just frustrating. I was expecting better, honestly.
"Page count still doesn’t add up"
I’ve been using HP Instant Ink and the page tracking just feels off. It’ll count stuff I barely even printed, and then the app doesn’t update until later so I’m sitting there trying to figure out what the real number is. Kinda feels like I’m getting charged based on numbers I can’t really trust, which is super annoying tbh...

"Those overage fees are a bit much"
I get that companies need rules and all, but the overage fees feel unfair. It’s always nice to find out after the fact that using a little extra somehow deserves an extra charge. Not exactly the best customer experience.

"Recycling program was more trouble than it was worth"
I’ll admit I’m picky about recycling programs because I actually try to use them, but this one was just a hassle. I never received the return bags, so the old cartridges kept piling up at home. Maybe it works fine for other people, but based on my experience, it felt poorly organized and kind of frustrating.

"Rollover page didn’t really help me"
I tried using the rollover page to figure out what I had left, it just confused me more. It’s not very clear why the amount changes or what’s actually still available. Maybe I’m missing something, but the page really didn’t make things easier.

"These cartridges absolutely never work when I need them"
I had to deal with the activation mess again, and I’m convinced these cartridges choose the worst possible moment to stop working. My printer kept saying the HP Instant Ink cartridge wasn’t ready, even after I restarted it multiple times. Support took forever, and after all that, I still couldn’t print what I needed. Easily one of the most frustrating printer experiences I’ve had.

"Maybe I’m overthinking it, but this feels too nosy"
I’m not sure if I’m just being paranoid, but I really don’t like how much it seems to monitor my printer. It feels like it’s constantly watching what’s going on, that makes me uncomfortable.

"I had a billing problem and reached out..."
I had a billing problem and reached out to support, but it felt like I was just sitting in a queue forever. It took ages to get a reply, and when someone finally got back to me, the answers sounded copy-pasted. They did sort it out in the end, but the whole experience was way more frustrating than it needed to be.
"Page count doesn’t add up"
The service itself is fine, but the page count really doesn’t seem accurate. I’ll print just a few basic pages, and somehow the total jumps more than I expected. It’s not a huge disaster, but it makes it hard to trust what I’m being charged for. I’d like to see better tracking or some kind of clear explanation, because customers should be able to understand exactly what they’re paying for

"Setup was a total mess"
I tried to get everything set up, but I couldn’t even register. Kept hitting issues right from the start. what a joke.
"I signed up thinking, okay, one less thing..."
I signed up thinking, okay, one less thing to worry about, the ink just arrives before I run out. Except that’s not really how it went. Every time I actually needed to print something, HP would say the cartridge was out of stock or delayed. So then I’ve got this printer sitting there doing absolutely nothing, which is kind of funny in the most annoying way because the whole point was to avoid exactly that. Support wasn’t much help either, mostly just “check back later” or “please be patient.” I can be patient, sure, but not when I need to print today. After dealing with it too many times, I cancelled. Just felt like a waste of time.

"Canceling felt like a bait and switch"
Signing up was easy, but trying to cancel was a whole different story. It felt way more confusing and drawn out than it needed to be, almost like they make it simple to get in and then put up roadblocks when you want out. Definitely left me with a bait-and-switch kind of feeling

"Not a great first impression"
This printer has been frustrating from the start. It keeps dropping the connection and showing as offline, and Instant Ink hasn’t really helped fix the issue. Having to reconnect it every time I just want to print one page is getting old fast. Definitely not the first impression I was hoping for

"Still waiting on my refund"
I’ve asked about this twice now — and I’m still waiting for the refund to show up. It’s getting frustrating at this point.
